Montauk Point Light, Long Island, New York

Montauk Light was commissioned in 1792 by the second United States Congress, and completed by 1797, making it the fourth oldest lighthouse in the United States.

Located on the eastern most point of the south fork of Long Island, the location on the top of Turtle Hill provides panoramic views far out to sea.

Its light can be seen 18 nautical miles from shore, and the single stripe was added late in the nineteenth century.
