Burrell's Woods Road in Snow - The History Trekker Shoppe at History and Haunts

Burrell's Woods Road in Snow

History can be subtle, especially in small towns in the midwest. From every small town snakes a network of roads which are seldom called by their proper numerical names. Instead they take on the names of those who lived there long ago, often long forgotten.

Orlando Burrell was one of the earliest settlers in the town of Carmi, in the southern tip of Illinois. Serving as sheriff and other prominent positions, he left much of his land to the town to use for recreation.

Today the road which leads to Burrell's Woods is a gateway to the magic that is the country, captured here during a winter snowfall.
