The Old House, Cutchogue, Long Island, New York

Route 25/25A on Long Island's north shore is for me, one of the best drives in America. Much of it was ridden on George Washington's victory lap around Long Island following the Revolution, and there's a lot of history along the way.

The Old House was built in 1649 in Southold, and moved shortly after to its present location in Cutchogue, on the village green. It's National Historic Landmark listing claims it to be "one of the most distinguished surviving examples of English domestic architecture in America." The casement window frames show the Old House to be the work of a master builder.

Tours are given in the summer by the Cutchogue-New Suffolk Historical Council.
